Happy New Year!
Here in Houston we are only a couples of months away from changing our closets from fall / winter clothing, to spring. The number one trend that you need to know this spring the black and white trend. Designers are taking us back to basics with the simplistic but very elegant contrast of black and white. Designers such as Narciso Rodrigues, Prabal Gurung, and Jason Wu give us a fresh look to the spring season after a very colorful and opulent fall.
The trend that is here to stay, color blocking; this time it comes in a more sleek way with clean modern lines and colors from the same pallet family. No designer created this clean trend better that Narciso Rodriguez. For his resort 2013 collection Rodriguez gave his pieces a modern and slick look with warm lines mixed with clean white lines. You can find many amazing pieces from this collection now at AtriumRTW

Ladies forget about the super thin, only wear under a long sweater or dress leggings. Designers such as Jason Wu and Viktor & Rolf took notice that we love wearing pants made out of comfortable material and look very stylish no matter what you wear on top. You can go for the classic back, or the color of the season forest green. You can also pick a more sporty look with a line by it side of for a little more edge color blocking.
One of the biggest trends this fall is gold, and what a better time to wear this glamorous and luxurious trend than during the holiday season.
Designers offer many ways to wear this trend. Reem Acra give us the best gold party dress of the season. With the combination of gold and sequin the cocktail dress is the best for a fun night.
But if gold is too much for you, Pabal Gurung has amazing options of just a touch of gold from very opulent fabrics.
Resort season is officially arriving to AtriumRTW. We might complain about Houston’s weather but here in the H we are very lucky to be able to wear resort during resort season!
Here are a few trends that we can look forward to during Resort season.
The trend of a defined waist is achieved by a very feminine look of fit and flare . Of course one of the most feminine designers, Jason Wu showed this trend.
The continuation of Peplum
Designers such as our own Prabal Gurung continue this trend but with extra details. For resort the peplum details include soft embroidery and lace or even a little edge with slick leather detailing.
The menswear style trend took a more sporty twist for resort, with a black line on the side of the pants giving the illusion of track pants, and sportier style jackets. Our designer Yigal Azrouël added a moto-style jacket to his full printed suit to achieve this feel.
The always classic stripes is a trend that we can always expect during resort. Many designers chose to add sequins or stripes. Others such as Thakoon chose to stay classic and just give the stripe a vibrate color.
Dresses over pants
A new trend for resort was the new way of layering dresses over pants. Prabal Gurung added this look to his collection. The look is surprisingly cohesive and has a very easy feeling fit.
Cut outs take a classic twist by having a purpose other than showing skin, Designers such as Yigal Azrouël, gave their designs cut outs in strategic places to take the shape of the dress giving it a chic edgy look.
Designers didn’t forget about the little details. Many designers such as our Jason Wu added a feminine and glamorous touch of embellished collars to a few of his pieces .
The temperature is starting to get low, and then up and then low again, typical Houston fall. For the few days of fall like temperatures we can embrace of the coziest trends this season; layering with knitted sweaters. You can pair a oversize sweater over a dress or a skirt for a chic casual look, or pair it with skinny pants for a casual but sophisticated look.
A few of our designers stayed in New York city during Hurricane Sandy. No designer shared his journey with frankenstorm better than our own Prabal Gurung. Using instegram as his outlet of communication, Prabal shared photos of the city that he loves during this difficult time.

Who doesn’t have a blouse on their closet? A most have, and sadly once consider an outdated piece, is
one of the trendiest and modern pieces you can add to your outfit.
Animals prints are an elegant and at the same time edgy way to wear this trend. Yigal Azrouël, offers
a great option with his snake skin printed blouse. But if you are looking more of a trendy and fun look
Viktor & Rolf has the blouse for you, a shear button down blouse with fun fringe to add movement.
