Floral for spring is a no brainer, but with the advance of modern technology floral prints are becoming a true artistic bliss. Many of our designers created their own modern floral or even earthy prints for their Spring collection. Thakoon for example choose to stay a bit more classic with a print of roses inside a cage, Rodarte’s version was a bit more earthy with prints of branches decorating a long skirt, and Jason Wu once again brought, amazing floral prints but this time in black and white.

We have no words to thank everyone for making our grand opening at our new home such an amazing event.  We are very excited and look forward to many more fun events and trunk shows.

For our grand opening we had the honor of welcoming one of our new designers, Sally LaPainte. We instantly fell in love with her cool down to earth approachable attitude.

LaPointe and her team showcased her Fall 2013 collection, recently shown at New York fashion week.  The inspiration for this collection was the song "In Your Room," by Depeche Mode.  The collection is dark and sultry just like the song. Another element that LaPointe played with was the element of revealing while concealing. She achieves this with strategic cut outs and open backs to outfits that at first look head to toe covered up.

This is a very sweet and pretty trend, perfect to welcome spring. The breeziness of this trend it makes a very sophisticated but at the same time easy to wear style for the warm weather.

Since this is a very soft trend (mostly made of neutrals, and soft pastel colors ) wear soft makeup and chose neutral or even metallic shoes.

Now it is our turn to celebrate our new home, and what a better way to celebrate than to welcome a new designer to our family.

Designer Sally LaPointe is an American ready-to-wear designer based out of New York City. LaPointe graduated from The Rhode Island School of design with a BFA in apparel design. She begin her line after graduating, and moving to New York City in 2006. LaPointe was recently named one of FORBES 30 Under 30 for 2013. Her line is currently in its fifth season

For her spring collection, Sally LaPointe was inspired by pictures of an abandoned and once secret underground submarine base in Balaklava. Most of her inspiration from her collection came from an image of a river running through the massive concrete structure struck the hard/soft, man/nature contrasted she wanted to explore.

When you are over dresses and what something different but dressed up, a tuxedo is always a great option. No longer only for men, these menswear stable can give you a great mixture of sex appeal and toughness.

For Spring Prabal Gurung showed a modern take to a tuxedo outfit with a mixture of soft sheer and edgy details. On the other hand Jason Wu presented us with a more feminine tuxedo, replacing the traditional tuxedo pants with shorts (More appropriate for Houston’s heat)

This spring the hottest shoe trend, straight from the runway is the gladiator sandal. Some designers took it a bit too extreme with knee high gladiator sandal. If you want to follow the trend but also be able to wear the chic shoe even after the trend has come and gone, an ankle length nude or metallic sandal, is an amazing option. We love this Jimmy Choo styles and the best part, you can find them now at AtriumRTW

There is one trend that would always be part of our spring wardrobe; and that is a full white. There is no outfit more comfortable and chic on a hot summer day than a light white outfit.   For spring 2013 our white outfit is full of delicate details such as

Even thought the minimalistic trend might look easy, it is a bit tricky to not make it look dull and boring. The easiest way to achieve chic minimalist look for spring 2013 is by mixing neutrals. Start with a base color such are the colors of the season black of white. This base color should be the biggest part of your outfit, for example a white dress. Then add a layer such as a blazer with another neutral color such as orange. Make sure to only add one or two colors to your base to keep that minimalistic feeling.

During fashion week Narciso Rodriguez gave us an amazing example of neutral minimalist.

Trend Tuesday: Exotic inspirations

Many designers took to faraway  lands to achieve inspiration for their spring 2013 collections. Some when to the tropics of Caribbean, others stayed with last season’s favorite inspiration Asia, but Our favorite had to be the one inspired by India, Vera Wang’s Spring 2013.

When following this trend it is very important not to go to literal or you might look like you are wearing a costume. This is why we love Vera’s collection. You could feel the sense of the exotic land with it colors and India inspired patterns and textures, but at the same time staying true to the designer’s chic aesthetics.
